Kildorrery TidyTowns

What We Do

Kildorrery TidyTowns was formed in the early 1990s and the goal was to make Kildorrery an outstanding place to live in. We have consistently done well in TidyTowns and continue to improve year on year. Judging is anonymous and takes place during the months of June, July and August each year. Each entrant is assessed under eight criteria with a total of 600 marks available as follows:

As well as the entry form, judges also rely on additional information supplied by TidyTowns groups – this is why the provision of a clear map is so important (see Kildorrery TidyTowns Photos 2026 for map).

Participants can specify sub-areas of special interest for adjudicators to look at, but full adjudication covers the whole area and approach roads. This is normally defined as within the welcome signs to an area or, where none exist, within the relevant low-speed limit signs.

The people of Kildorrery are indebted to this dedicated group of volunteers who work hard each year to enhance the village with a regular routine of weeding, litter picking, planting and painting. Here’s how you can do your part too:

AS A KILDORRERY RESIDENT / VISITOR

  • Maintain the exteriors of your property in the village, be it powerwashing, painting or decorating with flowers/plants.

  • Taking your litter home with you / picking up litter in front of your homes.

  • Picking up after your dogs if they have fouled on the streets.

  • Teaching the young ones not to litter and setting an example by putting your litter in the bin.

VOLUNTEERING

  • Volunteers are always welcome, so contact the Community Office or Ted Enright 086 858 4546 if you need litter pickers or bags.
