Community Text Alert
Since 2014, over 60 people have signed up to the Kildorrery community Text Alert. Our Group is ‘Group 7 Kildorrery’.
Kildorrery Community Development would like to thank The Avondhu, Garda Sgt Andrew Geary and Garda Vincent Guerin for their help in setting up the text alert scheme.
How does the 'Community Text Alert Scheme' Work?
The phone number for the Kildorrery Garda Station is (022) 25162.
The phone number for the 24-hour Fermoy Garda Station is (025) 82100.
Everyone in Kildorrery is encouraged and supported in reporting to the local Garda any activity they deem to be of concern to them. If An Garda Síochána believes the information received would benefit the Kildorrery community, then they have the ability to contact the Service Provider, in our case grapevine, who will then send out a 'Text Alert' to all signed up members of 'Kildorrery Community Text Alert Scheme'.
Who are the local contacts?
The Community Text Alert is being setup by Kildorrery Community Development Limited. Sergeant Andrew Geary at Fermoy Garda Station is the Gardaí Text-Alert Coordinator. Garda enforcement works best with community involvement, any activity you deem to be of concern should be reported to Garda Vincent Guerin, the local Garda for Kildorrery on (022) 25162. If the station is unmanned, the call will be automatically diverted to Fermoy or Mitchelstown.
What do you need to do?
If you would like to be part of the 'Kildorrery Community Text Alert Scheme', you will need to complete the form here and pay a fee of €10.
If the form was delivered to your house, it will be collected along with the fee in the next few days. The Garda will be informed of the collection and it will be collected by someone you know.
If you picked the form up yourself, then you will need to hand the completed form along with the fee, into the Kildorrery Community Office on Main Street.
How long will the fee last?
Each Alert text you receive will cost €0.06, so €10 will provide 166 texts. Other groups' experience is that an average of 30 messages are sent per year.
